How to Begin----
WELCOME TO ECONOMICS via DISTANCE LEARNING

Are you ready to begin a very exciting learning experience?  Distance learning is appealing to students with good independent studying skills.  Most feel that distance learning encompasses longer hours than regular classroom style courses, but they appreciate being able to work at convenient times.  On-line instruction puts you at the center of your learning experience.  You are entrusted to learn by all means that you see fit.  Of course, I have placed various tools at the website to help you in this process.  My goal is simple:  I want you to succeed in learning the principles of the course. 
 

The guide below serves as an orientation session to help you gain confidence surfing the website and knowing where to find instructions, procedures and materials about a course.  Try frequently asked questions if you cannot find the answers you need during the orientation.

• Listen to me describing the philosophy of learning from a distance.
  
• Go to the my homepage, and see the various links containing important references about economics and learning at our college.
  
• You will need a login name and password to enter the course.  They can be obtained by emailing me at on the first day of the quarter.  My email address is listed here.  (If you send an email before the first day - it is unlikely to be answered because I am normally out of the office during the break.)
  
• After obtaining your login name and password, go to the portal where the class is located and click-on your course.  Look at all the links for your course.  Carefully read the syllabus, study plan, schedule and courtesy statement because these serve as guides and rules of study for the course.  Understand where to find such items as lectures, textbook, and study materials. 
• Click on the getting started link in order to complete the first required activities.

You are ready to start learning after carefully completing all the above tasks.  Use the study plan as your guide and proceed according to the schedule.  Best wishes for a solid learning experience.
